Eggersmann FUEL

Substitute FUEL

The Superior Alternative to Landfilling

  • Higher net calorific value
  • Utilisation of the biomass
  • Complete solution for RDF
  • 80 % less landfill mass

Our Eggersmann FUEL process unfolds the full potential of the renewable, organic fraction. The secondary fuel produced with our process is therefore a mixture of fossil and renewable energy.

Alternative Fuel

By using Eggersmann FUEL, fossil fuels can be saved in energy-intensive industries. The Waste to Energy concept enables extremely efficient, holistic recycling of municipal waste.

The core of the Eggersmann FUEL process is biological drying using the CONVAERO system. This is installed before the usual mechanical treatment. The proven and robust process is designed to treat both small and very large quantities of waste. In addition, the  standardised process allows affordable waste treatment also in  countries, where landfilling or dumping of waste still is the main or only disposal method. The mass to be landfilled is reduced to only 20 % of the original waste and emissions from the uncontrolled decomposition of the organic fraction are avoided. Fossil fuels can also be saved.

Maximisation of the Net Calorific Value

The treatment time depends on the required calorific value of the substitute fuel. This means that the net calorific value can be adjusted to the customer's requirements via the drying process: The lower the residual water content, the higher the net calorific value. The dried biomass itself is transformed from a problem into a fuel. The amount of energy is therefore above average. It is particularly interesting for cement production. As considerably less water vapour is produced during combustion, a significantly higher proportion of RDF is possible here.

The Procedure

The Eggersmann FUEL utilises a combination of tried and tested, coordinated components as a system solution: In the first step, the residual waste is shredded using a TEUTON or FORUS shredder. The shredded waste is then biologically dried using the CONVAERO process. Depending on the plant throughput and the requirements for automation in the biological drying process, the process is accelerated with a BACKHUS CON. The discharge from the biological drying process is treated by our processing technology depending on the further requirements for the substitute fuel. This can include the separation of unmixed recyclable fractions for resale, such as the separation of metals using overbelt magnets.

Good for Environment and Economy

The dumping of untreated and unsorted waste in developing and emerging countries is a problem in several respects:

  • The waste contains pollutants that are released uncontrolled into the environment, mainly into air, ground and waterways
  • The decomposition of the organic components of the waste produces a huge amount of CH4 and CO2
  • High temperatures are reached during the natural decomposition of the organic fraction, which greatly increases the risk of fires

In contrast to landfilling, our Eggersmann FUEL offers the possibility of utilising municipal waste safely and economically. The finished fuel can be used in cement production or to generate electricity and heat. It thus makes a decisive contribution to the development of infrastructure in emerging and developing countries and extends the life of existing landfills by a factor of 6 - 8, while at the same time creating many new jobs for a wide range of qualifications. The process thus contributes to the gross domestic product.
